I ended 2018 by completing my latest draft of Roadkill Kids, and sent it out to beta readers. I worked on it for the entirety of 2018, so giving it to other to read was both an enormous relief and horrifically frightening!
But of course I can’t keep from writing for long, so I’ve already begun my newest project. This is a concept that’s been rattling around my mind for a long while, and it’s finally time to set pen to paper (errr...fingers to keys?).
The Resurrectionists is another young adult story, this time historical fiction set in the year 1816. Also known as the year without a summer, this unfortunate climatological event occurred shortly after the disastrous end of the War of 1812, compounding the issues faced by an already unsettled US.
I’m not a historian. I’m an English literature nerd with a passion for storytelling, but I’m delving into all kinds of interesting research, both historical and literary, for this project. So far this has been a fun foray into unfamiliar territory, but I’m looking forward to continuing this journey and writing as authentic a tale as I can...while still bringing my own twist to the narrative.
